About Paula Minchin
I love the whole paraphernalia of painting. I just love the juiciness and sensuality of paint and colour and the contribution of shape and form. I see these elements as a translation of the huge variety of the visual and musical stimulus one can experience in any 21st century street. I can apply the paint with my fingers, pallet knife and brush. A great deal of verve in my work comes from the paint itself. It motivates me to create bold and vivid work.
I don't have any real pre-conceived ideas for the paintings. Each painting is a journey, a Samba or a series of surprises and the final product is the biggest surprise of them all and therefore can never be guessed at until the painting is abandoned.
I am in my element when I am painting.
